Preocupado com fragilidade verificada no município de Sobral para a possibilidade de incêndios, o vereador Dr. Estevão Ponte deu entrada na Câmara Municipal com projetos de indicação endereçados principalmente ao 3º Grupamento do Corpo de Bombeiros e as secretarias municipais de Urbanismo e Cidadania e Segurança, solicitando constante fiscalização nos equipamentos de segurança de todas escolas públicas e particulares, de todas faculdades públicas e privadas, no Centro de Convenções e no Mercado Central, no intuito de prevenção de incêndios.

Recentemente, mais um incêndio de grandes proporções foi verificado na região central da cidade, destruindo dois conhecidos estabelecimentos comerciais localizados na região do Mercado Central. Mesmo diante da bravura dos nossos Bombeiros, pouco se pode fazer devido a problemas estruturais da cidade, que não dispõe de uma boa estrutura de hidrantes instalados em pontos estratégicos. Ainda em sua requisição, Dr. Estevão solicita que a Prefeitura de Sobral instale hidrantes nas proximidades das escolas, universidades, do Centro de Convenções e do Mercado Central.
